Okay....here is a very cool 'road dog' Telecaster from 1974.
This guitar was purchased from the family of the original owner. Originally the guitar was White...but sometime in the late 70s he had the finish stripped off to reveal the beautiful Natural Ash grain, and then had that clear glossed. The original finish is in the neck pocket, pickup cavities and behind the neck plate.
At some point in the 80s, he had routed a place for a nashville style 3rd pickup, but then didnt follow through with that. So there is a route hidden under the pickguard (shown). In the 90s he had the volume and tone pots replaced....the tone pot is the double stack with a treble bleed on it, so you get a more smooth response when you roll the tone control. The 3 way switch appears to be original, albeit a little stiff feeling.
The pickups and bridge all appear original, and sound great. The frets are original, and although they arent the height of a modern fret, they still play fine.......but I could understand if a player would choose to have them replaced.
The neckdate and serial all denote a 1974 production date.
The case is original, but the first latch has a broken tab, and the center latch appears to be a replacement. It looks great and functions fine.
The weight on this is a freakishly featherweight 6.75 pounds.....which is ridiculously light for both a 70s vintage fender and also being solid ASH! Im sure the additional pickup route hidden under the guard helped that a bit, but even without that it is really lighter than most examples.
With the non original finish, and other mentioned issues, we have this priced at well below market value.
